What It Is

What is the Arabi Method?

The Arabi method is Arabi's own way of learning the Quran and Arabic, synthesized from the best classical and modern methods. Students read directly from the sounds without spelling, are corrected on the spot by a teacher, and advance only after they are truly fluent, at a pace that matches each person's ability.

Method Principles

Six Principles That Make the Arabi Method Distinct

The Arabi method rests on six principles that reinforce one another, drawn from the best classical and modern ways of learning.

Adapts to Your Pace

Every student has their own tempo. The teacher adjusts speed, repetition, and difficulty to your current ability, so learning feels right and comfortable at your own pace.

Talaqqi, Learning Directly from a Teacher

Recitation is learned face to face with a teacher who listens. Every mistake is corrected right then, the way the Quran has been passed down since the first generation.

Straight from the Sound

Students read directly from the sound of each letter, without spelling letter by letter. This helps students become fluent faster, in line with proven modern reading methods.

Mastery Before Moving On

Each level is checked through munaqasyah, measured by fluency, speed, accuracy, and correct articulation. Students advance after true mastery, so the foundation stays strong.

Scheduled Muraja'ah Review

Reading and memorization are reviewed regularly at set intervals so they stick and stay, in line with how human memory works.

Rich, Gradual Materials

Worksheets, articulation diagrams, example words from the Quran, and color coding for recitation rules make every concept easy to understand and remember.

Heritage and Research

We Studied the Best Methods, Then We Synthesized Them

Before designing its own method, Arabi studied the proven methods of Quran reading, tahfidz, and Arabic, then took the strength of each.

A Tradition of Transmission

Talaqqi and Musyafahah

Learning face to face with a teacher who listens, the way the Quran has been passed from one generation to the next. This is the heart of every Arabi session.

Indonesian Reading Methods

Iqra, Qiroati, and Ummi

Reading directly from sound without spelling, advancing volume by volume. Arabi strengthens this with worksheets and articulation diagrams.

Rhythmic Recitation Methods

Tilawati and An-Nahdliyah

Reading with rhythm and timing that keep the lengths of recitation accurate. Arabi adds graded munaqasyah to assess the quality of recitation.

Yanbuul Quran Pesantren, Kudus

Yanbua

Reading, writing, and memorizing in careful Uthmani script, compiled by the family of KH Arwani Amin and published in 2004. Arabi preserves this care in writing.

Durusul Lughah, Madinah

The Madinah Books and Bayna Yadaik

Learning Arabic from examples and patterns, paired with four-skill conversation. Arabi makes it easier with full vowel marks, word icons, and color-coded i'rab.

Modern Education Research

Mastery Learning and Spaced Review

Learning each stage to mastery, reviewing at intervals, and strengthening memory by reciting back. Arabi weaves these together with good character and personal guidance.

From all of this heritage, Arabi built one complete method, then tailored it to the learning pace of each student.

How the Method Works

How the Arabi Method Works in Each Field

The same principles are applied with steps tailored to Quran reading, Arabic, tahfidz, and tahsin.

Quran Recitation

From zero to reading the mushaf fluently

  1. Start from the sound

Letters are introduced directly with their sounds and correct articulation points, without spelling them out.

  2. Imitate and repeat

Students imitate the teacher's recitation, then repeat together and one by one until the tongue is at ease.

  3. Read in random order

Letters and words are read in random order to make sure students are truly reading each one, with the sequence changed every time.

  4. Advance through volumes 1 to 6

From single letters, connected letters, vowels, tanwin, and sukun, to tajwid rules and on to real verses of the mushaf.

  5. Munaqasyah at every level

Before advancing, recitation is tested for fluency, speed, accuracy, and correct articulation.

Arabic Language

A next-generation Durusul Lughah, easier to understand

  1. Learn from examples first

Rules are introduced through examples and practice first, with explanation following, in the inductive style of the Madinah books.

  2. Full vowels and word icons

Every word carries full vowel marks and a simple picture, so it is easy to read and remember from the start.

  3. Vocabulary chosen from the Quran

The words studied favor those that appear often in the Quran, with a verse window as a real example.

  4. Color-coded i'rab practice

Word functions such as mubtada, khabar, fi'il, and fa'il are distinguished by color, then practiced by their marks and roles.

  5. Reviewed on schedule and used in speech

Material is reviewed at set intervals, then used in short conversation so it sticks and comes alive.

Quran Memorization

Memorization that sticks and is mutqin

  1. Talqin from the teacher

The teacher recites the verse, and the student imitates repeatedly until it is correct before memorizing.

  2. Sabaq, new memorization

New memorization is added little by little according to ability, with recitation that is already correct.

  3. Sabqi and manzil, muraja'ah

Recent and older memorization are reviewed regularly so they are preserved.

  4. Tasmi' to the teacher

Students recite their memorization to the teacher to be corrected and confirmed accurate.

  5. Mutqin and preserved

Memorization is cared for with regular muraja'ah until it is firm, lasting, and preserved.

Tahsin and Tajwid

Refining recitation until it is correct and beautiful

  1. Fix the articulation

The point each letter comes from is corrected one by one by listening directly to the teacher.

  2. Know the letter qualities

Qualities of each letter such as heavy, light, and the bounce of qalqalah are practiced so the sound is precise.

  3. Rules of nun and mim sukun

Idzhar, idgham, iqlab, and ikhfa are learned through examples and marked with color.

  4. Mad and waqaf

The lengths of recitation and the places to stop are practiced according to tajwid rules.

  5. Melodious tilawah

Once recitation is correct, the melody of tilawah is shaped so it sounds beautiful and calming.

Paced to You

Every Student Moves at Their Own Pace

Some students grasp the letters quickly, others need more time for each reading. The Arabi method honors both.

With one-on-one private lessons, the teacher sets the tempo, repetition, and difficulty to the student's ability at the time. Students advance when they are ready, with a strong foundation.

Start from where you are

The teacher assesses your starting ability, then places you at the right level, from zero or continuing.

The right tempo

Harder parts are repeated more, parts already mastered are covered more briefly.

Advance when ready

Munaqasyah makes sure you are fluent before advancing, so each stage stands on the one before it.

Learning Levels

The Quran Learning Ladder at Arabi

The Arabi method orders the journey from recognizing letters to memorization, one level above the next.

From iqra to tahfidz

  1. Iqra Letter Recognition Recognizing Arabic letters and their sounds
  2. Tartil Fluent Reading Reading the Quran fluently
  3. Tahsin Recitation Refinement Correct tajwid and articulation
  4. Tilawah Melodious Recitation Reading with a beautiful melody
  5. Tahfidz Memorization Strong memorization with muraja'ah

Every level is matched to your starting ability, children and adults alike.

FAQ

Questions about the Arabi Method

What is the Arabi method?
The Arabi method is Arabi's own way of learning the Quran and Arabic, synthesized from the best classical and modern methods. Students read directly from the sounds, are corrected on the spot by a teacher, and advance only after they are truly fluent, at a pace that matches their ability.
What makes the Arabi method different?
The Arabi method combines talaqqi directly from a teacher, reading without spelling, mastery at every level, and scheduled muraja'ah review, then adapts all of it to each student's learning pace. The materials are rich, with worksheets, articulation diagrams, and examples from the Quran.
How does the method teach reading the Quran from zero?
Students begin by recognizing the sounds of letters along with their articulation points, imitating and repeating, then reading in random order to become truly fluent. Reading advances through volumes 1 to 6, from single letters to real verses of the mushaf, with munaqasyah at each level.
What does next-generation Durusul Lughah Arabic mean?
Arabi uses the foundation of the Madinah books, which teach Arabic from examples and patterns, then makes it easier with full vowel marks, word icons, vocabulary that appears often in the Quran, and color-coded i'rab practice. Material is reviewed on schedule and used in short conversation.
How does tahfidz work at Arabi?
Memorization begins with talqin, where the teacher recites and the student imitates until correct. New memorization or sabaq is added little by little, recent memorization or sabqi and old memorization or manzil are reviewed regularly, then recited to the teacher through tasmi' to be mutqin and preserved.
Does the method adapt to a child's pace?
Yes. Because lessons are private and one on one, the teacher adjusts the tempo, repetition, and difficulty to the student's ability at the time. Harder parts are repeated more, and students advance only after they are truly ready, for children and adults alike.
Is the Arabi method suitable for all ages?
It is. The Arabi method is used for children who are just learning the letters through adults and seniors who want to improve their reading or memorize. The levels and pace are matched to each person's ability and goals.
